Algebra 1

I have taught math for over 25 years to students of all ages. When teaching college, I helped students wanting to be elementary teachers learn the math they needed to know to succeed in the classroom. When teaching high school, my classes averaged about 12 students which gave me the chance to really get to know how people learn math. Many times I was lucky enough to teach them twice in their high school career which only led to more learning about learning for me. I earned a Masters of Science degree in Mathematics Education and I am certified to teach math in 2 states.

My style of teaching is to determine a student's strength and build upon that. There are so many representations in mathematics (graphs, words, algebraic, table, real world problems) which need to be connected. By beginning with a student's strength, the other representations begin to make more sense. As the student matures mathematically, it is possible for them to develop other strengths. I love when this happens!
