I have been teaching mathematics for 15 years now. I used to struggle with math in school and sometimes one explanation or perspective just isn't enough. So I understand the struggle. Only after I took higher level math classes in college did I begin to love it. I went on to graduate with a Bachelors in mathematics and then went on to pursue my Master's of Education in secondary math education. I have taught high school math and college math in a private school.
It is important to me that my teaching be interactive - you need to be part of the problem-solving and sense-making. I can talk till I am blue in the face, but that doesn't mean learning is happening. It needs to start with what you already know and understand. We go from there together.
