I have proven success with all kinds of learners. Over the last 20 years, I have worked with 1000’s of Latin learners, as a teacher and tutor. I helped 6th graders failing Latin 1, AP Latin students eager to get a 5 on the AP exam and many would be Latin students who wanted to make sure their first year went smoothly. Each of these students has improved, many of these dramatically. I tailor my instruction to your student. All my students learn differently and as a result, I adapt my teaching to fit the needs of every student. To help each student find success, I develop a student specific learning plan and tailor my instruction to meet each student’s specific learning profile. Additionally, I work hard to establish a connection with each of my students. This rapport helps my students feel comfortable explaining what works and what doesn't work, and it allows me to adjust his lessons accordingly. It also makes our work together fun! With 20 years of experience and a Masters in Education, I have the skills to help your student improve dramatically in Latin.

As a Latin teacher and linguistic activist, I have crafted an educational philosophy led by diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and that continues to develop through daily teaching, Latin conferences, and educational consulting. My methods are supported by recent research in Second Language Acquisition. I combine the best practices of the Active Method and Natural Method in order to optimize student learning. I teach engaging, hands-on, immersive lessons which use Latin as the primary language of instruction. My expertise is in Latin texts by women authors. I am currently a PhD candidate at University College London where my research focuses on 17th century women Latin poets.

I am a caring and dedicated teacher with a passion for Latin, and for helping students become confident, independent learners. I specialize in Latin instruction, from introductory grammar, vocabulary, and translation to advanced translation and IB Latin exam prep. I hold a B.A. in Classics (magna cum laude) from Brown University, an M.A. in Education from the University of St. Joseph, a Mass. Educator's License, and I have 35 years of teaching experience. I focus on making Latin approachable and meaningful, and will work with you to utilize your preferred learning modalities for academic success. In addition to Latin, I have extensive experience in student support, working with students to build essential study skills and executive functioning, including time management, organization, and test-taking strategies.
