My name is Lisa Gill, I have over 18 years of teaching experience. I have a master's degree in The Art of Education from William Carey University. I was awarded "Teacher of the Year" for Seminary High School 2021-2022. During the last 18 years I have taught several different classes in history, science, and other electives. Let's Make History Your Favorite Subject: Hello, my name is Karen Ashton, and the past 34 years of my life have been filled with joy and gratification helping hundreds of students here in Florida as a Middle and High School Social Studies teacher. I was voted Teacher of the Year in 2022 for my school, and have won many teaching grants that have provided numerous resources for my students. I have tried to inspire, provide direction for those in need, and provide a sense of urgency to improve the instruction for our students. I hold two Master's of Education degrees from The University of South Florida, one in Curriculum with a focus on Social Sciences. I have always enjoyed seeing the smiles on my students’ faces and have treasured the positive progress they have made while in my classroom. I love helping students reach their fullest potential and be successful. I firmly believe that teachers have the most important job and I hope I can help you accomplish your goals.

My individualized and passionate teaching style, both in person and online, has given me a reputation among my students as a motivating, patient, and attentive teacher. In my first year as an AP teacher, I was chosen by my peers as Teacher of the Year in my district. Students say I am an effective motivator, with my enthusiasm and passion for the subject, I instill that same passion in my students, and show them how they can all succeed. As a result, 100% of my students every year take the AP test, and 85% of them pass. The majority of the 11th grade at my school apply to take my class. As an AP grader, I'm proud to say that due to my grading accuracy and knowledge of the rubrics I was recommended for Table Leader at the most recent reading. Students are taking on a real academic challenge with this course, and I must show them exactly what they need to do to meet that challenge. Above all, I ground my pedagogy in the belief that every student can master academic writing and succeed.

I’m Paula Weder, a nationally recognized educator honored as Gateway High School’s Teacher of the Month and a nominee for the Excellence in Teaching Award by NYCOBS. With a Master’s in History from City College of New York and a B.S. in Secondary Education–Comprehensive Social Studies from Youngstown State, I bring over two decades of experience teaching U.S. History, World History, AP, Ethnic Studies, and dual-enrollment college courses. I specialize in making history meaningful and relevant through inquiry, critical thinking, and culturally responsive instruction. Whether guiding students in AP U.S. History or coaching fellow educators, I’m passionate about creating inclusive, engaging learning environments where every student can thrive.

I am a passionate and experienced educator specializing in the development of critical thought, communication and confidence for Generation Z and Alpha students. Through personal research and teaching 7-12 social studies for the past 18 years in the suburbs of Philadelphia, including Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses, I have developed a novel pedagogy and program to reach and teach our digital natives. This entails a focus on improving executive functioning skills in order to excel in analytical based research writing to effectively taking standardized tests. In this age of technological revolution, focusing on the core concepts of identity formation, holistic thought and confident kindness need to be at the center to offset the impact of the smartphone and social media on student identity and agency in the classroom. I hope to have the opportunity to create a specialized learning approach to enhance both for your child in order to maximize their potential.
